Analysis and Performance Prediction of Students Using Fuzzy Relations and Interval Data
Dr. C. Loganathan, M. S. Annie Christi

Abstract:-
An attempt has been made using the approach formulated by Adlassnig [1] and Adlassnig and Kolarz [2] in the design of CADIAG-2, to find the possible marks obtained by a student in the final exam using his capacity or intelligence and the knowledge obtained using fuzzy relations, interval data and the comparison of intervals.

Scour Reduction around Bridge Piers: A Review
Mubeen Beg, Salman Beg

Abstract:- For safe and economical design, scour around the bridge piers is required to be controlled. The performance of any scour protection/controlling device around bridge piers depends on how the device counters the scouring process. Efforts have been made to reduce the depth of scour by placing the riprap around the pier, providing an array of piles in front of the pier, a collar around the pier, submerged vanes, a delta-wing-like fin in front of the pier, a slot through the pier and partial pier-groups and tetrahedron frames placed around the pier. In this paper, a detailed review of the up-to-date work on scour reduction around bridge piers is presented including all possible aspects, such as flow field, scouring process, parameters affecting scour depth, time-variation of scour.
Keywords:- Bridge Piers, flow field, scour process, scour reduction, time variation.

Chemical and Mechanical Characterization of Clay Samples From Kaduna State Nigeria
Manukaji John U.

Abstract:- This research investigates the chemical and mechanical characteristics of clay samples from Kaduna State in Nigeria with a view to determining them for industrial applications. Three different clay locations were selected for investigation namely Kachia, kafanchan and Wusasa. The clay specimen were collected from fifteen cites in each location for better representation of the location. The samples so collected were mixed properly and a representative specimen for test from that location was produced using the cone and quartering system as recommended by the American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM). Atomic Absorption Spectrometer(AAS) was used to determine the chemical composition, while other established processes were used to determine the mechanical properties like particle size distribution, specific gravity, bulk density, solid density, water absorption, apparent porosity, permeability to air, refractoriness, thermal shock resistance, modulus of rupture, linear shrinkage and thermal conductivity. The chemical analysis showed that all the samples had high percentages of silica and alumina, thereby classifying them as Alumino-silicates. The values for specific gravity, bulk density, solid density and apparent porosity averaged 2.62, 1.933g/cm3, 2.86 g/cm3, and 13% respectively and they were within the internationally accepted range. The values for linear shrinkage, permeability to air and thermal shock averaged 8.72%, 71.1, and 29+ respectively and these also were within the accepted limits. The values for modulus of rupture and thermal conductivity averaged 88.7 MN/m2 and 0.516W/moK. The refractoriness of all the samples were >1300oC and this showed that they could be used as industrial products.

Binocular Search Engine Using Android
Santhosh Kumar S., Sudarshan K.

Abstract: This project proposes and implements a Binocular Search System to search buildings and places through their photos captured by phone cameras. User need to take a picture of the building he/she wants to know with an Android phone and upload the picture to server. The server returns name and information of the buildings or places. We use Scale Invariant Feature Transform features and the bag of features method to represent and recognize building images. Euclidean distance method estimates the distance between query image and those in database. This project is implemented using android and J2EE and makes use Location based Service. We introduce a system using mobile camera, GPS information and PC server to search and recognize buildings without typing any words. With quick development of mobile techniques, a large number of people already own smart phones. Our system provides an attracting and easy way to know about the world using images captured by mobile cameras. We have achieved good performance and the method is effective.

Underwater Object Recognition
Hatem Awad Khater, Ahmed A. Megahed, A. Baith Mohamed

Abstract: Underwater object detection is very essential issue for many civilian and military applications such as hydrographic survey for the purpose of securing navigation and anchorage areas and planning underwater communication cables, pipelines and mine detection. The aim of this work is to provide a flexible, fast and accurate underwater object recognition system for use in a variety of underwater low level images captured from underwater imaging devices, these imaging devices include (Multibeam Echo Sounder "MBES" and Side Scan Sonar "SSS") are used in different times and under varying weather and bathymetric conditions. Experiments have been done in front of Alexandria coast (between Sidi Krir and Agamy area) contains noticeable features such as pipelines which were utilized and processed. An approach was developed with the use of different software packages and applied on the prepared real data to detect objects to assure gathering of object details during the processing procedures. Results proved that our system is capable of recognizing different underwater objects such as pipelines, rocks and shipwrecks.

A study of the effect of different topology parameters on the routing overhead for Ad-Hoc networks
Bambrik Ilyas, Didi Fedoua

Abstract: Because of the dynamic nature of the topology in Ad hoc networks, a new type of routing protocols has been developed. These Ad hoc routing protocols react faster than the classic routing protocols to topology changes. When a path between tow nodes is broken, the routing protocol finds an alternative path to reconnect the two nodes. Random topology changes and other topology parameters can highly affect the volume of routing overhead. For this reason, the routing protocols for Ad hoc networks use different methods to reduce routing over head. In this paper we present a new routing technique and we study its effect on routing overhead by running multiple simulations.

Analysis on the Defects in Yarn Manufacturing Process & its Prevention in Textile Industry
Neha Gupta

Abstract: This paper is related to textile industry especially to Yarn manufacturing process. Textile is one of the biggest manufacturing industries in India.Defects rate of product plays a very important role for the improvement of yield and financial conditions of any company. Actually defects rate causes a direct effect on the profit margin of the product and decrease the quality cost during the manufacturing of product. Companies strive to decrease the defects rate of the product during the manufacturing process as much as possible. By checking and inspection of defects of product at different point in a production cycle and management implement some changes specifically at those points in production where more defects are likely to happen.
